The purpose of this project is both for historical perspective and
knowledge of the cemetery, and to gather information so that
informed decisions can be made concerning the cemetery into the
future.

Goals

Short Term:

Indentify where graves are located in and directly around the
    cemetery

Identify as many bodies as possible in the cemetery

Identify vacant areas and plots within the plotted cemetery

Provide detailed mapping of the cemetery which can be used for
    further burials

Document the headstones before acts of nature or man remove any
physical records of the information on the stones

Categorize the headstones and place them in a ranking order to
what stones need to be restored, refurbished or replaced

Long Term:

Provide information to decision-makers regarding any possible
    expansion of the cemetery

Provide a cemetery for residents of Gilpin County who pass away
and desire to be buried within the County

Provide a means to generate revenue to assist with maintenance
and historic preservation costs of the cemetery by selling
available plots or newly created plots

Return headstones or footstones that have moved to their proper
    location

Create a plan for continued maintenance and security of the
    cemetery

Place temporary markings on graves discovered
