Subject: New publication--News in Conservation
The International Institute for Conservation (IIC) is proud to announce the launch of its new newspaper "News in Conservation". This is an important departure for IIC. News in Conservation replaces the former "IIC Bulletin" with a completely new full-colour format and extended content. It contains conservation news from around the world, including features and interviews, as well updates on IIC's own activities and the latest on the London 2008 Congress, Conservation and Access. It joins the suite of IIC's established "...in Conservation" publications, alongside "Studies in Conservation" and "Reviews in Conservation". The first issue contained articles by IIC members who have worked in northern India and in Bhutan. Issue Number 2 included coverage of the impact of the Peruvian earthquake on the cultural heritage, the creation of a shelter over excavated areas of Catalhoyuk Neolithic site, and cross-cultural collaboration in the conservation of China's heritage. Future issues will reflect the important work that is carried out by conservators globally, as well as encouraging contact between IIC members worldwide. It will hold up a mirror to the profession, enabling conservators to find out what other conservators are doing, how they are thinking and how approaches differ, helping to strengthen the work of the conservation community and to reinforce the conservation of the world's shared cultural heritage. The newspaper will also be of interest to many other readers outside the profession. A comprehensive listing of conservation events is complemented by an enhanced Events area on the IIC website, which will be re-launched in the coming months. Everyone can view and download a complimentary copy of Issue Number 1 as a PDF from the IIC website.
