Andrew W. Mellon Advanced Training Fellowship in Paper Conservation National Gallery of Art Conservation Division The conservation division of the National Gallery of Art is offering a paper conservation fellowship supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. The three-year fellowship commences in October 2008 and includes a $30,000 stipend plus $2,000 for travel and research. The fellowship will be devoted to conservation treatments at the National Gallery of Art and research related to the collections. The fellow will be expected to produce a publishable paper based on his or her research project before the end of the appointment. Lectures, symposia, and informal discussions contribute to the fellowship program, as do the significant resources of the Gallery, including the library, photographic archives, and the scientific research department. Eligibility: Graduates from recognized training programs or candidates with equivalent training will be considered. Applicants should have no more than five years of work experience in the field. English-language skills and a proven record of research and writing ability are required. Fellowships are awarded without regard to age, sex, nationality, or race. Selected finalists who are not United States citizens must provide their own supplemental health insurance coverage during the fellowship period.
