To continue the discussion of dataloggers/Climate Notebook etc.:

Another option worth considering is the use of wireless
temperature/RH transmitting sensors. Advantages over standard
dataloggers (PEM, Hobo etc..) are:

    No downloading: data is automatically transmitted and stored on
    a selected PC

    Real-time Data: no waiting for a download to see what has taken
    place--instant alarms to out of limits conditions

    Any number of users can share data over the network

    Several to hundreds of sensors can be accommodated

    One button Climate Notebook output--if you have 1 or 100
    sensors, one button will convert all data to Climate Notebook
    format

The down side:

    About a 20% to 30% cost premium over PEM cost range loggers

    Wireless sensor range is not infinite--but really
    good--generally the same range as building security radios

    Battery life not as good as dataloggers--about 6 months with a
    standard smoke detector battery
