Documentation and Preservation of Rock Art Masters level 7,5p September 2008 The Department of Conservation in cooperation with the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at the University of Gothenburg is offering a fulltime course at the Masters level in Documentation and Preservation of Rock Art. To be eligible for the course applicants must possess a BA/BSc degree with a major in one of the course's subject areas. The course focuses on rock art with an international perspective with special focus on the bronze-age rock carvings at the Tanum World Heritage Site. The course consists of lectures and fieldwork and is offered between 1 September - 3 October 2008 (weeks 36-40). Teaching takes place in Gothenburg and at the Tanum World Heritage Site. Moreover, visits will be made to other rock art sites in Norway and Sweden. The main themes of the course include: rock art as a phenomenon, archaeological history, documentation, rock art and the public, and principles of conservation.
