Lectures on the conservation of plastics and rubber Art Study Room, Uris Center for Education Metropolitan Museum 1000 Fifth Avenue, New York NY 10028 Wednesday, May 14, 2008 12-2 pm. These talks are open to the public. Yvonne Shashoua Senior Researcher at the National Museum of Denmark "Plastics-a sticky subject!" A general overview of what plastics are, where are they found in collections, why they deteriorate and what conservation treatments we have available today. Thea van Oosten Senior Researcher at the Netherlands Institute for Cultural Heritage (ICN): "Bridging the gap between science, industry, artists and conservators" Research into conserving plastics at ICN, disseminating knowledge and case studies involving glass-reinforced polyester, polyethylene/polypropylene and polyurethane foams. The Uris Center for Education is located at the south end of the museum (80th St). There is street access as well as a parking garage there. This talk is open to the public.
