Subject: Crossweld Polyester Film Sealing Machine
The Museum of Anthropology at the University of British Columbia would like to purchase some encapsulation equipment for the Collections Research Enhancement Project. We have a few thousand works of art on paper which would be eligible for encapsulation. We are currently considering the "Crossweld Polyester Film Sealing Machine" which is available through University Products and Preservation Equipment Ltd. I would like to know if anyone has any experience with this particular piece of equipment, including how often the heating element and "PTFE" cloth needs replacing. Some literature describes the older models as "temperamental" especially concerning the heating element. Any advice or information on the new model would be greatly appreciated.
