Paper Conservator The National Archives of Norway, Kristiansand 2-month project contract NKR 260,000 - NKR 310,000 pa The National Archive of Norway based in Kristiansand has a vacant 2-month project based available within an established paper conservation centre. We undertake conservation projects for The National Archives of Norway based in Kristiansand, Kongsberg and Stavanger. In addition we collaborate with other cultural institutions, including Sorlandets Kunstmuseum for the conservation of Fine Art, on paper-based media. Project description: In 1892 sections of Kristiansand were destroyed by fire and several archives damaged. Amongst the damaged archive material were 6 property ledgers, these important documents were subsequently packaged and have remained relatively undisturbed since that time. The department for conservation in Kristiansand have made preliminary investigations and consequently developed a procedure for the conservation of the first volume (vol. 1). This project must be completed by 1 November 2008 Responsibilities: The Scanning and subsequent conservation treatment/documentation of vol. 1. Qualifications include: an undergraduate degree in paper/book conservation from a recognised conservation or equivalent apprenticeship. Competent IT and communication skills. Strong production management skills and the ability to work independently. The salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience.
