    National Museums Liverpool has an exciting opportunity to join
    our team of Conservators based at the National Conservation
    Centre.

    Our ceramics collections range from ancient Egyptian artefacts
    to modern studio pottery, and include extensive collections of
    Oriental porcelain as well as Roman glass and some stained
    glass.

    As Head of Ceramics Conservation you will manage the Ceramics
    Conservation department, taking responsibility for all aspects
    of the care, conservation and related research of National
    Museum Liverpool's ceramics and glass collections.

    You will need proven experience in ceramics conservation and
    knowledge of the most up to date methods and practices.
    Management experience will also be an advantage. We are looking
    for effective problem solving, organisational skills, and the
    ability to meet tight deadlines in order to meet our
    organisational objectives over the next few years, including new
    Egyptian displays and the Museum of Liverpool.

Fixed term contract 6 months

    The Lady Lever Art Gallery's collections include approximately
    800 pieces of 17th and 18th century Chinese porcelain, most of
    them dating to the Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong periods.

    You will carry out critical interventive treatment, funded by a
    Getty grant, to include conservation treatments, research into
    the provenance of the collection, and participate in a
    conservation research project on the colouring matching of
    in-fills and glazes of ceramics.

    With relevant specialist knowledge your technical skills will be
    essential. Effective organisational skills and self motivation
    as well as the ability work under pressure, will be vital in
    ensuring the project's goals are met.
