Subject: Ross Harvey appointed to Simmons faculty
The Simmons College Graduate School of Library and Information Science (GSLIS) in Boston announces the appointment of four new faculty members. The new faculty members are Ross Harvey, Ph.D., a specialist in the preservation of library and archival materials ... Harvey will be a visiting faculty member for two years. Harvey, previously a professor of library and information management at Charles Sturt University in Australia, was named a 2007 Fellow of the Library and Information Association of New Zealand Aotearoa. He received his doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and a diploma from the library school at the National Library of New Zealand. Harvey has held academic positions at several international institutions, including the University of Glasgow in Scotland, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University in Bangkok, Curtin University of Technology in Perth, Monash University in Australia, and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Harvey is the editor of Australian Academic and Research Libraries. He also co-edited the spring 2007 issue of Library Trends with Simmons GSLIS Dean Michele Cloonan. Harvey's research interests include the preservation of library and archival materials, the history of print culture, 19th-century New Zealand and Australian newspaper history, and the history of music printing and publishing. He has written many articles on library preservation, and his articles have been published in Australian Library Journal and Journal of Library, and Information Management, among others.
