Dr Aviva Burnstock, Head of the Department of Conservation and Technology at the Courtauld Institute of Art, will present an overview of recent technical studies into impressionist paintings looking particularly at pigment change, the influence of grounds and their deterioration and issues related to unvarnished pictures. This evening will be of particular relevance to those interested in the technical study of materials and techniques in paintings but is also intended to be an enjoyable and informative event for all our members to celebrate the beginning of the Christmas period with canapes, drinks and plenty of mince pies.
