Research Associate (Historical Building Simulation)
The Centre for Sustainable Heritage (UCL)

The Centre for Sustainable Heritage at UCL is seeking to appoint a
Research Associate, qualified to Upper Second Class or higher
Physics, Chemistry or Engineering degree, PhD is desirable. The
roleholder will work on a heritage building simulation project,
focussing on increasing our understanding of energy consumption and
behaviour of heritage buildings in view of the changing climate and
the behaviour of historic materials stored in conditioned
environments.

Specifically they will:

Develop building simulation models to understand the current
    operation of historic buildings

Test the simulation models using a variety of scenarios: changes
in the external environmental conditions, building structure,
operation of the air-conditioning systems, the content, the
occupancy and use of heritage buildings

Measure and monitor the parameters needed to develop and test
the model (Temperature, RH, ventilation rate, air infiltration
    etc.)

    Work closely with heritage organisations

    Write reports and research papers

Manage and maintain the instrumentation needed to carry out the
    work

Liaise with various stakeholders including heritage managers and
