Kress Fellowship Paper conservation Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC) The Northeast Document Conservation Center (NEDCC), located in Andover, Massachusetts, 25 miles north of Boston, is offering a one-year advanced internship in its paper conservation laboratory. The position will be supported by a grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. The fellowship offers an opportunity to spend a concentrated amount of time at the bench in a spacious laboratory with highly skilled and friendly colleagues. The successful candidate will treat a variety of paper materials, including manuscripts, maps, printed materials, architectural plans, photographs, and works of art on paper. He or she will also participate in outreach activities such as workshops, tours, and surveys. The position will begin in September 2009. In addition to bench skills, good written and oral English communication skills are important. Applicants must have a degree from a graduate level conservation training program or equivalent experience. Preference will be given to persons with permanent legal residency in the United States. Compensation will include health and vacation benefits, as well as funding for travel and research to supplement training at NEDCC.
