Call for papers "Feather and Gut: Current Perspectives, Research and Treatments" Institute of Conservation ICON (Institute of Conservation) Ethnography Group one Day Seminar and AGM Huntingdon Room, King's Manor University of York Tuesday 23 June 2009 Following two successful workshops titled 'The Conservation of Feathers' the ICON Ethnography Group is organising a one day seminar to disseminate and debate current thinking and research on artefacts incorporating feathers and also gut; a further soft protein for which a review is timely. Proposals are warmly invited for presentations and posters. Topics may include, for example, preparation and manufacture, deterioration studies, treatments, storage and display issues and solutions. Discussions surrounding collaborative projects and ethical issues are also welcome. Case studies and broader thematic papers are encouraged. Abstracts should be 300 words in length in Word format, and submitted by Tuesday March 31 2009 via email to Helene Delaunay, <hdelaunay<-at->thebritishmuseum<.>ac<.>uk> Please ensure the author's affiliation and contact details are clearly marked on the abstract. Presentations will be 20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions and discussion. The papers and posters, where appropriate, will be made available on the ICON Ethnography Group website as post-prints, in a PDF format. Writing guidelines for the e-prints will be provided.
