The Preservation Directorate of the Library of Congress announces the 41st presentation in the Topics in Preservation Series (TOPS): "The Conservation and Preservation of Nineteenth-Century Photographic Materials" Pickford Theater, Madison Building 3rd floor Library of Congress 101 Independence Avenue SE Washington DC 20540 Thursday, March 5, 2009 10:30-11:30 am Ms. Adrienne Lundgren, a Senior Photograph Conservator in the Library of Congress Conservation Division, will present an introduction to the five main photographic processes used in the nineteenth century. The discussion will include identification methods, chemical constituents, material structures, and commonly found deterioration problems. Conservation treatment case studies will be explored to convey the thought processes behind determinations of appropriate treatment protocols. The Topics in Preservation Series lectures are free and open to the public.
