Assistant Conservator, Paintings Conservation and Collections Management Museum of Fine Arts, Boston In preparation for the publication of a catalogue of its collection of 17th century Dutch and Flemish paintings, the Museum is seeking an Assistant Paintings Conservator to carry out technical examinations of all the works to be included. Working under the direction of the Head Paintings Conservator and the Senior Paintings Curator, the Assistant Conservator will undertake the technical examination of approximately 151 paintings. This will include examination and documentation with visual light, microscope, IR and X-radiography. A concise written summary detailing the results of the examination will also be made. Sound understanding of the examination techniques mentioned above, along with a familiarity with Photoshop and an ability to write well and clearly, is essential. Candidates must have a graduate degree in paintings conservation and at least one year of additional professional experience. This is a 16 month term position, beginning in the fall of 2009.
