Ethafoam

We would like to get information on the current opinion on
individual cushion design using Ethafoam. This method is developed
by CCI. Is it only to be used for temporary transportation? Does
anybody have experience on the application for long-term storage? We
have heard of doubts for long-term storage application because of
the possibility that a microclimate might develop.

A further idea for short-term transportation method is the system
used in emergency rescuing where serious injured people are
stabilized on bags filled with small styrofoam balls. The system
gains rigidity by removing the air out of the bags applying a
vacuum. Does anybody have experience using this system on art
objects?
