Conservator of Objects and Sculpture SF Art Conservation SF Art Conservation is seeking a skilled and experienced conservator to specialize in the treatment of objects. The position is full time. The company is located in San Francisco and conserves a broad range of 3 dimensional objects in the studio, outdoor sculpture and public art. Our clients include museums and major private collections. Knowledge and experience with ceramics, metals and outdoor sculpture will be preferred. Responsibilities will include conservation assessment, treatment, and documentation of objects, and occasional supervision of technicians and interns. Qualifications: Master's degree in Conservation and a minimum of three years of recent experience with objects Proven knowledge of a wide range of materials and techniques; physical, chemical and biological deterioration of materials; and current practices in object examination, and treatment Knowledge of "Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Practice" of the American Association for Conservation (AIC) Good judgment, initiative, creativity, analytical and problem solving skills Demonstrably excellent hand skills in object conservation treatment techniques Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team, to enlist the cooperation and involvement of others, and to provide supervision when required Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Proven time and resource planning management abilities Photographic and computer skills are required Starting Date: As soon as possible Probationary Period 3 months Apply to: Rowan Geiger Director of SF Art Conservation 1189 Tennessee Street San Francisco CA 94107 rowan<-at->sfartconservation<.>com 415-407-0728 Please include a letter of intent, resume, and contact information for three professional references.
