Subject: Air quality
Has anyone ever tested the air quality of a newly-built museum store for airborne particulates, VOCs, etc? If so, what monitoring equipment did you find to be most useful, and what were the results of your monitoring? Were they helpful to you? As part of a decant into a newly-built store, I am concerned with residual particulates or off-gassing from the recent building activity. In particular I'm concerned about formaldehyde, VOCs, sulfurous gasses, residual paint fumes, etc. I would also appreciate any suggestions from anyone that regularly monitors air quality as part of a preventive conservation program or that undertake short term monitoring for air quality in their stores or display areas.
