- Anne F. Clapp has had to move her recently established studio
for the conservation of art and artifacts on paper. The new address

- Cathy Asher will be in Japan March 27-April 22 on a grant,
learning Japanese book mending techniques.
- George Kelly, developer of the diethyl zinc process for mass
deacidification of books, retired from the Library of Congress
January 8.
- Ursula Dreibholz will leave the U.S. near the end of March for a
job in Yemen, where she will work on early Islamic manuscripts, all
on parchment, from the 8th and 9th centuries. The manuscripts,
20,000 or more of them, were discovered recently in the roof of a
mosque. Ms. Dreibholz's employer will be the University of
Hamburg.
