Paul James of Alexandria, Virginia, who volunteered in the spring of 1981 to serve as equipment editor, and who did the column for the April and August issues, has been prevented by illness in the family from continuing in this capacity. His contributions were most welcome.
The record of people who had sent in money for rapid notification of equipment coming on the market or for special announcements to potential buyers has been lost, so anyone who sent in money either to Paul James or to the Abbey Newsletter and did not get their money's worth should contact the Editor for a refund.

Murray Lebwohl's address, given with a hand-drawn map on page 37 in the last issue, was wrong. It should have said 1212 Eye Street, Alexandria, VA 22307.
Chris Clarkson is still at the Bodleian; see the notice on the front page of this issue.
The Abbey Newsletter: Bookbinding and Conservation is issued six times a year and has about 600 subscribers. New subscribers automatically receive all issues published in the current year, unless they request otherwise. All subscriptions expire on the last day of the year. To initiate or renew a subscription, send name, address, and a check for $15.00 to Abbey Newsletter, [after Sept. 1] c/o School of Library Service, 516 Butler Library, Columbia University, New York, NY 10027. Written contributions and bits of news are welcome. Claims for issues which are defective or damaged in the mail, and for back issues paid for but never received, will be honored without question, within a reasonable period of time after original mailing.
