• Don and Pam Rash report that they had their first two-man show in April, at Bucknell University (restoration, edition and design bindings, and calligraphy) and that they have now been on their own for a year.
• George Boeck (pron. beck) on Aug. 3 became full-time museum specialist at the Dard Hunter Paper Museum in Appleton, Wisconsin. He got his doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania in folklore a few years ago and has since worked at the Louisiana State Museum and the Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth. His research interests will be on non-Western and European papermaking processes and the relationship between papermaking and literacy.
• Gail Harriman began work recently at the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA) in Philadelphia.
• Robert J. Strauss started work October 5 as Executive Director of the Conservation Center for Art and Historic Artifacts (CCAHA).
• Norbert Baer, Helen Burgess, Carolyn Harris, and George Cunha are among the 10 members of the Advisory Panel for the OTA committee investigating the diethyl zinc deacidification process. (ota=Office of Technology Assessment, a government agency.)
• Babette Gehnrich has accepted a full-time position in the conservation department of Yale University Library. She and her husband Daniel have a new address: 11 Barnett St., New Haven, CT 06515. Daniel will be doing free-lance work in New Haven and will continue to work with David Bourbeau at the Thistle Bindery in Easthampton, Massachusetts.
• Nathan Stolow, a fellow of both AIC and IIC, has left Colonial Williamsburg as Foundation Conservator and is now a consultant to museums and galleries on environmental, conservation, and planning projects. His address is: P.O. Box 194, Williamsburg, VA 23187, 804/253-0565.
• Gary Frost will be in Caracas, Venezuela, during October, November and December. He promises to submit a report on the new IFLA training program there.
• Stella Patri has retired at the age of 90, and has a new address: 2665 Baker St., San Francisco, CA 94123. She was one of the binders who responded to the call for help at the time of the Florence Flood in 1966.
• Betty Lou Chalks has resigned her position teaching bookbinding history and technique and visual books in the Graduate Book Arts Program at Mills College, and moved to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, where she will continue her design binding and printmaking. She will also be offering a multi-level binding program in her new studio at 280 Hillside Drive, Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (919/929-0753).
• Chris Clarkson began his new job in August or September as director of a three-year program in bookbinding, conservation and bibliographical studies at West Dean College in Sussex (see news item).
• Gil Brown has been made Executive Director of the Association for Childhood Education International; he was Executive Director of the AIC for the last two years.
• Shannon Zachary's new address is 10 Freese Rd. No. 2, Ithaca, NY 14850.
• Bob Herskovitz has joined the Minnesota Historical Society in St. Paul.
• Frank B. Rogers of Denver, Colorado, died July 28, 1987.
• Yehudah Miklaf, formerly Seamus McClafferty, has a new address: 27 Kaf Tet Benovember, Jerusalem 92105.
