• Dick Youso, head of the Photographic services Branch at the National Archives, retired in December 1988.
• Josephine Fang was one of four employees retiring this year who were honored at a Simmons College reception held in May.
• Nancy Nitzberg has accepted the position of Assistant Conservator (Books) at Yale University.
• Eileen F. Usovicz has been appointed Operating Manager at the Mid-Atlantic Preservation Service (MAPS), effective August 1. She was formerly manager of the micrographic and photographic labs for Columbia University Libraries; before that, she was Microform Coordinator for K.G. Saur Publishing, New York. She began her career at NEDCC. She replaces Mr. Tom Marcum, who has left the archival microfilming field.
• Nora Kennedy, Photograph Conservator, has been invited by the Centro de Conservação e Preservação Fotográfica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to teach the conservation of photographs from late August to early December, 1989. The project ins funded by the Organization of American States (OAS).
• Peter Mustardo, on leave from the New York City Municipal Archives, will be helping to coordinate a preservation project at the National Library in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His involvement in the project will last three months, after which time he will return to his position as Head of Preservation at the Archives.
• Babette Gehnrich has been appointed Chief Book and Paper Conservator at the American Antiquarian Society. She and Daniel have a new address as of September 1: 6 Baker St., Worcester, MA 01603.
• Don Guyot has moved from Seattle to Olympia, Washington. The address for him and his business, Colophon Book Arts Supply, is 3046 Hogum Bay Road, NE, Olympia, WA 98506 (206/4S9-2940).
• Fritz and Trudi Eberhardt have a new address: 852 Salford Station Rd., Schwenksville, PA 19473 (215/187-7919). They continue to sell the Schärf-fix skiving machines.
• James Corwin has been appointed Principal Manuscript Conservator at the Huntington Library. He takes over from Ron Tank, who retired after 36 years of service to the institution. Susan Rogers is the new Manuscript Conservation intern.
• Nelly Balloffet has changed the name of her business, Paper Star Bindery, Inc. to Paper Star Associates, Inc., to better reflect the wide range of work now done by her and her associate, Ana Hofmann. This includes book and paper conservation and consulting services to libraries such as surveys, workshops and disaster prevention and/or salvage.
