People
- Olivia Primanis, formerly in private practice in Los Angeles,
has been appointed Head of the Book Conservation Department at the
Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center at the University of Texas
in Austin.
- Susan Sayre Batton has resigned her position as Head of
Treatments at the Princeton University Library. In September she
began a special project working on Tibetan tankas in the paper
conservation department at the Los Angeles County Museum of
Art.
- Walter Newman has been appointed Senior Conservator for art on
paper at NEDCC, where he also worked from 1982 to 1986. Since 1986
he has been at the Boston Public Library.
- Libby Pollard has joined SOLINET as Field Service Officer in the
network's Preservation Program, filling the position formerly held
by Sandra Nyberg, who was recently promoted to manage SOLINET's
Preservation Microfilm Service.
- Carol Pratt has moved from North Carolina to Eugene,
Oregon.
- Henk J. Porck has been appointed curator of the paper-historical
collection in the department of Special Collections of the Dutch
Royal Library in The Hague. As a halftime curator, Dr. Porck will
also continue his work as a paper conservation scientist at the
Library.
- Charlie Costain and Catherine Miles were married on August 4,
1990.
- Charlotte Newton and Scott Williams were married on 1990.
- Susan Dalton, of the National Center for Film and Video
Preservation, has been promoted to Director of Preservation and
Archival Projects. She will retain the title of Archivist.
- Pamela Barrios and Cathy Bell joined the Conservation Lab at
Brigham Young University in September. Pamela comes to BYU from the
New York Academy of Medicine and Cathy Bell joined the Lab from the
Beinecke Library at Yale University.
