Two meetings will be held early next year on preservation of electronic records. The first, January 24-25 in Washington, DC, will be a small "Working Meeting on Research Issues in Electronic Records," funded by NHPRC to identify and address research problem and questions relating to information in electronic form. Presumably some of those problem and questions would concern preservation, because the National Archives is among the organizations that have been invited to participate. A report describing proposed research projects will be produced for the NHPRC and widely distributed.
The second is the annual NARA (National Archives) conference on preservation, March 19-20 in Washington, DC. Preservation of electronic data will be covered the first day, and a technological forecast on the second. For information call the conference coordinator, 202/501-55W.
