On page 26 in the last issue, Janet Bridgland's name was mistakenly spelled with an extra e. This has been noted, and when that issue is reprinted in the future, it will be corrected.
In the same issue, p. 32, under selected contents for Restaurator, it should be M.S. Barger. This too has been noted.
Although the subtitle of this Newsletter is "Bookbinding and Conservation," it never could cover every aspect of bookbinding, though it helped fill the vacuum in the days when Designer Bookbinders put out the only newsletter on the subject. Now there are so many excellent newsletters and journals on bookbinding and other book arts that the Abbey Newsletter will leave the field to them, except for aspects that clearly relate to conservation, preservation, the history and structure of the physical book, and so on.

Library Literature May Index Us
In 1983 I asked the H.W. Wilson Co. to include the Abbey Newsletter in Library Literature, to make its contents more accessible to the wider community. They considered it, and turned my request down, because it was not their policy to include newsletters.
Earlier this year Lynn Jones sent a lovely persuasive letter to H.W. Wilson, putting the case to them again. They wrote to this office, requesting sample issues, which were sent off a few weeks ago. The decision will be made over a year from now, when they look over all the newsletters they are considering indexing.
The Abbey Newsletter: Bookbinding and Conservation is issued eight times a year and has about 1200 subscribers. All subscriptions are for the calendar year. New subscribers automatically receive all issues published in the current year, unless they request otherwise. Checks may be made out in U.S. dollars or English pounds, payable to Abbey Publications; send to 320 E. Center St., Provo, TIT 84606 (801/3731598).
