The Abbey Newsletter: Bookbinding and Conseruation is issued eight times a year and has about 1250 subscribers. All subscriptions are for the calendar year. New subscribers automatically receive all issues published in the current year, unless they request otherwise. Paid advertisements, except for job ads, are not accepted. Job announcements are billed at the rate of $50 for the heading and the first ten lines (60 characters per line), plus $2 per line thereafter. Any notice that is appropriate and newsworthy will be printed if there is room for it. Written contributions and bits of news are welcome. Claims for issues never received will be honored within 6 months of publication. Defective issues will be gladly replaced on request. A complete list of back issues is available.

The Abbey Newsletter is selectively indexed in Art & Archaeology Technical Abstracts and the Institute of Paper Science & Technology Abstract Bulletin. All issues but v. 1#2 are in print, and each volume has its own index. Interim indexes are available on request.

The Editor encourages readers to photocopy freely from the Newsletter; but the Editor's permission must be obtained before making more than 20 copies of any part.

Abbey Publications is a nonprofit tax-exempt corporation (tax ID #87-0436104). Its other publication is the Alkaline Paper Advocate.

Corrections

• The newly revised Resource File of the Western Association for Art Conservation (WAAC) was announced on p. 16 last year, with the address of the secretary/treasurer, from whom it could be ordered. WAAC has elected new offcers in the meantime, as professional organizations are wont to do, and readers should now send their orders to Liz Harvey, c/o Getty Conservation Institute, 4503 Glencoe Ave., Marina del Rey, CA 90292. Postpaid cost for first-time purchasers: $27 members, $32 nonmembers, payable to WAAC.
• In the December issue, on the front page there is a warning to be on the lookout for vesicular fiim. Actually, there is nothing wrong with contemporary vesicular film. It should have said to be on the lookout for old Kaluar uesicular film from that period.
• Paul Storch, editor and publisher of Leather Conseruation News, writes to correct and amplify the information about LCN that appeared on p. 134 in the last issue. He says, "The cost for the LCN is $12.00 for individuals only. People paying through an institution and institutions themselves MUST pay $15.00. There is a $2.00 airmail charge per order for overseas shipping. Back orders are available from the publisher (me)." In view of the fact that this is the only serial publication devoted to current news of conservation and research in leather, $15 per year is a bargain, even if it does come out only once or twice a year.

Improved pH Pens to Cost 20% More

The pH pens we sell from the Abbey Publications office, which are the same as those distributed through University Products and other retail outlets, will be making a darker mark in the future�at least the new ones we just received from the manufacturer will. Old prices will apply on the older pens: $2.95 per pen in quantities of one or two, ranging down to $1.00 in quantities of 1500-5000. New prices will be about 20o higher:
