- Ellen Desmarais, who worked at the National Archives of Canada
for 17 years in several jobs, including book conservator and
Director of the Conservation Treatment Division, has retired.
- Jan and Jarmila Sobota's new permanent address is: Radnicni 1,

- Fritz Eberhardt, a leader in American bookbinding for 50 years,
died on Christmas Eve, 1997. Don Rash has an eloquent obituary of
Fritz in the Spring 1998 CBBAG Newsletter on p.
21.
- Since Diana Dicus moved to Boise, Idaho two years ago, she has
spent 1-1/2 years working as a contract conservator on a mold
recovery site in Detroit. Her phone and fax numbers are the same:
208/331-0287.
- Jack Thompson has purchased property in Idaho and begun
designing another water-powered paper mill to be built on the site.
No workshop on Technology of the Medieval Book will be offered next
summer because he will be busy building the new mill. WAAC NL 20/1

- Florence Herrenschmidt has a new address: Centre

21 04). This center offers disaster assistance, photography and
radiography, examination and diagnosis; and restoration of
paintings. Florence is in charge of preventive conservation.
- Stella Patri, veteran of the 1966 Florence Flood rescue effort,
is now 101 years old, retired and living in San Francisco. Don
Glaister and Margaret Johnson have both set down their memories of
how they met her (in 1972 and 1980, respectively), and of their
friendships with her since then. They are published in the Winter
1997 Designer Bookbinders Newsletter under the title
"Stella Patri: Two Stories."
