• Sally Buchanan officially retired from the University of Pittsburgh on June 30. She will still be doing some consulting, but will not be teaching. Her new e-mail address is <Buchanansab@earthlink.net>. She writes, "I shall truly miss the field and especially the friends and colleagues that have been the best in the world."
• Jo Burgess was recently appointed Director of the Wylie House Museum, part of the Indiana University Bloomington Libraries. The house, home to IU's first president, Andrew Wylie, was built in 1835 and has been operated as a historic house museum since the 1960s. For the past 10 years, she has been Head of Conservation Services and Assistant Head of the Preservation Department, responsible for directing all conservation activities for the circulating collections of the Indiana University-Bloomington Libraries. She says she is finding those 10 years of library/archive preservation a good base to work from and the new world of museums an exciting one.

• Kim Harper, who related her experience with toxic mold in v.23 #6, has a new e-mail address:

• Judith Hofenk de Graaff is retiring, after almost 40 years of contributing to the conservation of historic textiles, the conservation of documents and works of art on paper, and to the development of the discipline of conservation research. Wilma Roelofs sent this news in August, saying that they would be at home in the Netherlands or their house in France, but will be available for consultation for whoever needs it. She also said that a bundle of letters from colleagues expressing appreciation for Judith's work would be presented to her at a goodbye party in November. (The deadline was October 1.)

  A direct communication from Judith Hofenk de Graaff dated August 29 announces that she will retire at the end of this year. She says, "In the field of paper conservation research a young and enthusiastic team of colleagues will continue my work. The group has adopted the name 'Paper +' for their activities and functions in the conservation research [department] of the ICN." They are:
