Re: arsclist Digital transfer question
There is always another step to take, a new trick to learn, a new gadget to
make better transfers. Thankfully so, the art gets better and better.
For various LPs, 78s, etc. different EQ systems were used through out the
century, yes you need a pre-amp to accommodate each one correctly OR you can
make a flat transfer to the HDD and do EQ in your computer later. Adjusting
levels is a different issue, yes you need to do that somewhere also.
I don't know of a pre-amp for $200.
You must also consider the proper stylus to use for different records. LPs
and 78s are not the same. 78s can vary considerably.
You might also want to look at the 78-L on topica.com for additional sources
of info, and do a search. There are many web sites with the info you
require.
And we haven't even talked about cleaning records yet.
