arsclist Eicor Recorder

Hi all,
having lurked on the list for quite a while, I realize there are all 
kinds of talent represented here. So I thought I might ask if anyone 
of you is familiar with the Eicor tape recorder of 1950 vintage and 
could tell me some more about it?

I am presently writing a paper about the field recording activities 
of Gordon Tracie in Sweden in 1950-51. He was then loaned an Eicor 
machine from the Folk Dance Federation of WA (does anyone know 
anything about them?), and brought 3M paper tapes with him. 
Unfortunately the Eicor's 60 Hz motor went too slow with Sweden's 50 
Hz current, so all of his tapes run too fast when played back. From 
his letters it is apparent that the Eicor is a) portable, b) that it 
lacked a mic input (strange combination, eh?), and c) didn't have 
fast winding(?), so it might not have been the best choice for 
someone doing field work. Still, he managed to do a fair amount of 
recordings of folk music. Perhaps someone could even supply me with a 
picture of the Eicor?
