Do you have any specifics or sources for the anecdotal reports? I am
interested because we are doing our archiving to DAT--given that the
shelf-life of CDs, and therefore, presumably, DVDs is really an unknown.
I do not have those reports. Some have been from friends who use the format
(I have never recorded a DAT), some have passed before me in various
Internet correspondence.
Let me suggest that anyone concerned with archiving on DAT seek in the
literature or at least on the Internet. The concerns should be similar to
those of rotary-head video recording.
