Is the SP-15 a better choice for 78 RPM operation than some other turntable, such as the Denon DPDJ 151, which BSW sells for $299 including the base and tone arm, or maybe an old Thorens or Empire?


Obviously, you would want to bypass the built-in RIAA preamp in the Denon to play 78s with correct equalization, but that's no big deal. Here's the Denon spec sheet:

And while we're on the subject, what's the best choice for a cartridge for 78s? Shure, Stanton, Grado or something else?
