Are you interested in working with the oral history collection of a
national research library?
The Oral History Centre of the Alexander Turnbull Library requires an
experienced, qualified librarian or archivist. The Centre provides
access to and preserves New Zealand's largest oral history collection as
well as working with groups and individuals who are carrying out oral
history recording.
The Oral History Librarian makes accurate descriptive records for oral
history on the Library's database for unpublished collections, provides
quality and timely reference and research services, assists with
collection management, and supports services to oral historians provided
by the Centre.
We are seeking a person who is experienced in making high quality
descriptive or cataloguing records on a database, providing excellent
reference and research services, has a broad knowledge of New Zealand
history and cultures, is interested in oral history, communicates well
with a wide range of people, works co-operatively in a small group and
pays attention to detail and accuracy.
Appropriate tertiary qualifications, together with archival or library
qualifications are essential. Experience in oral history and knowledge
of tikanga Maori and te reo would be an advantage.
