A paper "Detect Logical CD Defects" is now on the Media Sciences web
site at http://www.mscience.com/logical.html

It discusses volume and file structure defects that are controlled by
recording software and by operator selections. Prevention of these
defects is just as important as having good media and writers.

"CDStructure" is new logical test software that has been developed by
Paul Crowley. Paul's powerful software detects violations of ISO 9660
and its extensions. It is in beta test, and Paul hopes to release it by
July 1.

Logical defects are so prevalent that I sometimes wonder how discs work
at all.
