Subject: FW: query from publisher of new journal
[snip]
I have recently formed an academic publishing company which will have
popular music as one area of specialization. We are starting by launching a
new journal - Popular Music History - and I wondered if you could help me
make an announcement to the jazz and popular music group within the MLA?

Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Janet Joyce
Equinox Publishing Ltd., a new academic publishing venture based in London,
is launching Popular Music History, a new, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed
journal to be published three times a year. The journal is keen to publish
original historical and historiographical articles that challenge
established orthodoxies in popular histories of genres, explore
lesser-studied forms, or engage in archaeologies of popular music history.
The journal will carry reviews and have a resources section, which will
republish articles of historical importance, report on archives and
scholarly collections and serve as a forum for the discussion of issues of
importance in popular music history.
Articles of up to 6000 words should be submitted to Robert Strachen by Oct 1
2003 for the first issue (April 2004): Robert Strachen, Institute of Popular
Music, Roxby Building, University of Liverpool, Liverpool L69 3BX UK email:
