Come to think of it.....if I was to mix with an outboard EQ (as detailed in my previous post) and save the subsequent mix as a "save as" instead of writing over the working mix then I'd still be in good shape right?
I see what you're saying about keeping the initial capture as "raw" as possible. I am doing this already. But why would making subsequent mixing adjustments with plugins be a better idea than using an outboard EQ if, in either case, I'll have the original capture to fall back on if I don't like the mix? Are you suggesting that I only use applications that I would have the option of "undoing"? If that's the issue you're trying to raise then I think what you're suggesting makes sense. On the other hand, if you're suggesting that mixing with an outboard EQ (post-capture, mind you) threatens the integrity of the document more than a plugin then I'm not sure that I understand.
In any case, thanks for the input guys. This is exactly why I posted this inquiry here.

I would advise the transfer be made native, and any eq added should be experimented within the plugins used in your digital applications.
You can always go back to the original source material.

Try WAVES. Just pick out the modules you need. It's a nuisance to install because of unaurorized use paranoia but works fine.

Hi folks,lab.
It's becoming painfuly obvious that we really need some external EQ in ourtheyAll that we have now is a 3-band EQ situation [low/mid/hi] on items asofenter the computer to get captured, Waves Restoration and then whatever plug-ins come standard with Pro Tools LE. I was thinking along the linesandsomething that we could pump our Pro Tools sessions through during mixdownthen pump right back into PT. Any suggestions on models or alternatemethods? Is what I'm suggesting even a possibility?getting
I should add that our budget is modest but I can usually find ways ofthings done. This to say, nothing too fancy but nothing from Guitar Center either. Know what I mean?
Thanks, Brandon Burke
