The disadvantage here is going digital-analog-digital. If you have the
software & hardware you could open the MP3 file as a wav file in an editor,
such as Sound Forge (now owned by Sony) but there are many that could do the
job, save it, and burn to a CD. Bypassing the analog stage would help
maintain the integrity of the signal.

Does anyone know what type of file a regular music cd is actually saved as?
I am working on a project in which I have a MP3 on a disc which I can play
on my DVD player. Currently, the plan is to play the MP3 on the DVD player
have the audio signal go thru a mixing console and then back into a stand
alone CD-R.
