Don't know how it'd be implemented but I think it would be absolutely
amazing. I, for one, would probably spend hours experimenting with
multimiking vs. simple miking technics, placement, etc if those options were
available. It'd be extremely enlightening to have a 'reference' mix and then
be able to tailor it to one's preferences. You'd probably end up with quite
a few audiophiles in straightjackets from going insane tweaking, listening,
tweaking, listening, tweaking, listening.

Perhaps not an original thought, but new to me...what about a recording
which would allow you to choose a microphone set up (or perspective) of your
choice...a bit like a DVD with alternative endings to the movie?
