Re: [ARSCLIST] Quantegy has closed ???
Dale,
We've been discussing this at length last night on the Ampex mailing list.
I believe some reel tape is made in India, but from what I've heard (and I'm
passing it along without verification) it's not up to the standards of say
Emtec 911 -- although much of Quantegy's production suffered from poorer
slitting than Emtec's. Emtec is definitely gone. We'll see what happens with
Quantegy, but I wouldn't keep my hopes up if Emtec's fate is any indicator.
A quick check of Google News at this moment still showed no hits for Quantegy.
So far, the only reference we have to this are the two that you cited.
I think those archives that are still reformatting to open reel tape will need
to reconsider the strategy.
Best,
Richard
