Did this once! Accidentally left a valued cassette on my dashboard on a
sunny day...which resulted in a warped and melted shell. Carefully
dismantled another cassette, replaced its tape with the tape out of
my unplayable "victim" being careful to put all the little "bits"
back where they had been, and then dubbed the result to a new
cassette in case the hubs or tape had been damaged. Worked fine!

I've also used r2r splicing tape cut to half-width to repair cassettes
that were "eaten" by my auto tape player...again dubbing the repaired
tape after fixing it, Problem here is that at 1-7/8 ips, even a short
damaged section is very audible once removed!
