Re: [ARSCLIST] Tape Recorders for Auditioning- Fill in the blank! Plain text version
Per your request to " FILL IN THE BLANKS " and relative to my experience
with the TEAC/TASCAM open reel recorders, here is data:
Model Teac A-3300 series - add A-2300, A-2340, A-3340 and A-4300 and A-6300
        to this series as these
are similar chassis models. they differ by # of channels and reel
size. otherwise they are similar units (construction, operation
        and reliability )
Speeds - two speeds. either 15 and 7.5ips, or 7.5 and 3.75ips. any
model can be modified to provide either of those 2 speeds.
Pitch control - no.
1/4 & 1/2 track - yes, either or both as modified
reliability/durability - very good after serviced
parts availability - very good. TEAC/TASCAM factory parts still in same
location after 30 years and still in business today.
NOTE - there are many other models that TEAC/TASCAM made that would perform
well for "tape recorders for auditioning "
For cost effectiveness/reliability and Return on Investment the above
A-series models are a strong choice.
Some other half track models which may include pitch control and
   electronic search functions , at higher cost, are ;
   BR 20 - 2-track master recorder
   52 - 2- track master recorder
   42 - 2-track master recorder
   32 - 2 track recorder
   6100 - half track recorder/player + quarter track playback
6600 - quarter track master recorder
   3440 - quarter track/4 - channel
   34 - quarter track/4 - channel
Hope this helps a bit.
Chris
