Re: [ARSCLIST] BST turntables for 78
Thanks everybody for the very interesting suggestions. Since I have a
variety of sound cards and the Elberg pre, the Numark TT500 (better
mechanics than TTX, but no digital out) would seem a good and more economic
bet; the Vestax Handitrax is a cheap and portable alternative even if I do
not understand if RIAA curve is applied to 78 as well. The KABUSA site is
the most informative and prices are very good, but there's always the
question of shipping....

Recommendations:
Turntables:
- EMT 948 or 950 broadcast transcription turntable (both 12"), with
varispeed
- EMT 930 (12") or EMT 927 (16").
If varispeed is needed, use Multiconverter DU 937 by Hans-Ludwig Dusch:

EQ preamp:
Elberg MD12 preamp by Jørgen Vad with various EQ settings for 78 rpm
http://www.vadlyd.dk/English/RIAA_and_78_RPM_preamp.html
AD converter:
Digital Audio Denmark ADDA 2402
http://www.digitalaudio.dk/adda_2402.htm
Alternatively, use a modern DJ turntable with varispeed and digital S/PDIF
output, e.g.
- Stanton ST-150
- Gemini PDT6000
- Numark TTX
