When and how did the audiodisc company end its business?

Was audiodisc acquired and absorbed by another company?

Did audiodisc simply close its doors and sell off its assets?

Is there a resource which documents the audiodisc blank disc model numbers
and their year of manufacture?  Even better would be documentation of the
disc formulation and substrate type - but I don't think I'll get that lucky
(you never know).
