Re: [ARSCLIST] Any feedback on the status of Hogan Archive at Tulane Universi...
The Archives and Archivists listserv has had quite a bit on the subject. There was mention earlier today of the SEMC (Southeast Museums Conference) taking a lead role in helping with conservation/clean up efforts. Many SAA members have spoken of forming a response group.
There is a news service running on the AAM (American Assn. of Museums) site:

The National Park Service is also responding to the need to rescue cultural objects, and a team left Sept. 1 for New Orleans.
The human toll in New Orleans is terrible, and I worry over friends who are located there.

In response to Cary's message, I can tell you that a number of archival and
museum organizations are currently discussing the best ways to band together
to provide assistance. Earlier today I forwarded a message to the ARSC
board that was posted by (Michael Friend?) on the Association of Moving
Archivists listserv, outlining a number of steps that the organization could
take to help salvage film collections. We will be looking for ways that ARSC
can provide assistance as well, and I welcome ideas from members. I hope to
post a follow up on this list sometime next week after I have more
information both from the board and from our sister organizations.
