[ARSCLIST] SUSTAINABILITY FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE INSTITUTIONS
I have been asked to post this here
SUSTAINABILITY FOR CULTURAL HERITAGE INSTITUTIONS
There are only 2 business days left to register for this workshop...
The Society of Ohio Archivists (SOA) will be hosting its Fall Symposium
during Archives Week in Dublin, Ohio, on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 from
9:30 am-3:30 pm.
This year's topic is Sustainability: Business Planning for Cultural
Heritage Institutions.
Many projects begin with a great idea and some grant funding. However,
even the most successful projects have trouble determining how to
continue
once grant funding ends. In order to sustain these valuable efforts,
librarians, museums, archives, and historical societies need to plan for
sustainability at the beginning of projects.
In addition to financial sustainability, the symposium will involve
discussion of sustainability of digital assets. Developing a business
plan
for sustainability will help bridge the gap from noble purpose to
business
case and help extend the life of the project.
Speakers include Liz Bishoff, former Vice President, OCLC Digital
Collection Services and Executive Director of Collaborative Digitization
Program and the Colorado Digitization Program. Liz has spoken
extensively
on collaborative digitization projects and consulted with many state-
based
organizations on various aspects of their collaborative digitization
initiatives. She co-authored Business Planning for Cultural Heritage
Institutions with Nancy Allen, published in 2004 by the Council on
Library
and Information Resources (CLIR).
