Re: [ARSCLIST] any Ellington discography experts in the house?

Hi Mike:

Thanks for posting this. That box set is listed under Rhino/Reprise now. It
seems still available. It's interesting that it still seems in the same
format (tracks, sequence, etc) because, for instance, when RCA re-issued the
Paul Desmond/Jim Hall material after Mosaic's box set was sold out, they did
it in a different sequence with some different songs included.

"Fine Studios" should read "Fine Recording." The sessions that led to "Will
Big Bands Come Back?" were done at Fine Recording Bayside, the former
Everest studio, engineered by Fred Christie. The rest were probably done at
Fine Recording in Manhattan although there might have been another few done
at Bayside before it was closed.

I see that oldies.com has re-released "Afro-Bossa" as well as "Will Big
Bands Come Back?" and "Concert for the Virgin Islands." Oh, also "Ellington
'65" and "Ellington '66."
