[ARSCLIST] Voice of America Program on Billy Murray
The Voice of America's weekday live international call-in program, Talk to
America, looks at the career of American early recording star, Billy
Murray, who made thousands of cylinders, discs, and radio apperances from
the 1890s-1940s. Joining host Doug Bernard for a look at the birth of the
recording industry through archival recordings are Dick Bertel, former VOA
Talk to America Executive Producer and radio historian; Frank Hoffman,
author of a biography and discography of Billy Murray, and VOA's Neal
Lavon, sound collector.
The show will be broadcast Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, from 11 am to 12 noon
EST over the Voice of America shortwave radio network and streamed on the
internet.
