Re: [ARSCLIST] audio specialist- free (but not really) to good home

Trey,

When I went to look at your on-line resume, it required a password.

Hello everybody. I've been on this listserv for a
year now, and it's been great discussing sound
recordings with all of you. You have all been very
helpful whenever I've needed advice on the material
I've been working with. Now I'm asking for help on a
different matter: I seriously need a job.

I will be graduating tomorrow afternoon with my
Master's degree from the University of South Carolina,
and I've been frantically searching for employment
these past couple of months. There are a few
semi-promising maybes out there so far, but nothing
concrete, and I'm edging into the realms of panic mode
at this point.

What I'm looking for is a full-time job involving
audio preservation; this could be in an archives,
library, or museum setting, or anywhere that has sound
recordings that need preserving. My previous career
was in radio (and I was always annoying the people I
worked with because of my extremely precise ear and
attention to detail in sound quality), and my B.A. was
in Communications. My graduate work consisted mainly
of library and information science with a
concentration in archives, but I also geared my
studies towards audio. I'd be willing (and capable)
of taking a librarian or archivist position that
didn't specifically focus on audio, too. In terms of
sound recordings, I have a strong interest in (and
experience with) oral history, but I'm not necessarily
limited to that. I'm also more than willing to
relocate; nothing is keeping me tied to my current
location.

If anyone out there knows of a position for which I
could apply (either at your own institution or
elsewhere), please contact me off-list. I'm already
on several listservs and have been scouring job lists
online, but as I said, nothing concrete has reeled me
in yet.

I also ask that you take a look at my online resume
and portfolio at http://treybunn.dear23.net . That
will provide a clearer picture of my experience and
qualifications (and the sound files in my portfolio
will give you a chance to laugh at how my accent has
changed over the years...).

Thanks again everyone.
