[ARSCLIST] 2006 MLA conference
The Music Library Association's 75th Annual Meeting will be held 22-26
February 2006 in Memphis, Tennessee. Program sessions will focus on recent
developments in information literacy, copyright, sound preservation, music
resources and technologies, and other topics. Sessions and pre-conference
tours will explore the rich musical heritage of Memphis. The pre-conference
workshop is on digitizing music. A mentoring program assists newcomers in
getting the most out of the conference.
To celebrate MLA's 75th anniversary, the Memphis Symphony Orchestra
conducted by David Loebel will perform the world premiere of "Shakin'" by
Augusta Read Thomas. MLA and the MSO co-commissioned the work from the
renowned composer. Ms. Thomas and Maestro Loebel also will be panelists
during the conference among other distinguished speakers.
The conference site is the Peabody Memphis, a grand historic hotel in the
heart of downtown. Please consult the conference website for the full
program, exhibitor listings, contact information, and all registration
